Referral Process

GP or Case Manager Referral (with concurrent GP referral) and GP review after 6 sessions if more sessions required

So how responsive is the web in real time to this?

 

 

 

Target Group

Anyone affected by the Victorian bushfires; with persistent psychological symptoms; for treatment associated with the impact of the fires

GP patients; with a diagnosed mental health condition (including anxiety, grief, depression, PTSD) who require a referral for Focussed Psychological Strategies (Counselling)

People who have received grants paid by the Victorian Bushfire Appeal fund (and their dependant children), or

People receiving, or who have received Victorian Bushfire Case Management services

Dependant children (over 5 years of age) of eligible people as above

Other people who have been directly affected by the Victorian bushfires, for example, family and close friends of people affected by the bushfires and those people who have lost their livelihood directly through the effects of the bushfires

Service provided through this funding

Ongoing as required, based on a GP review and repeat referral every 6 sessions

Each referral is for 6 sessions, with additional sessions up to 12 (18 in exceptional circumstances) based on GP review every 6 sessions

Who provides the services

Allied Health Providers (Psychologists, Mental Health Social Workers, Mental Health Nurses & Mental Health OTs) who are registered with the Division Of General Practice who is paying for the service

Allied Health Providers (Psychologists, Mental Health Social Workers, Mental Health Nurses & Mental Health OTs) who are registered with Medicare

Community Health Counsellors

AND

Allied Health Providers (Psychologists, Mental Health Social Workers, Mental Health Nurses & Mental Health OTs) who are registered with Medicare who agree to provide the service

Cost

FREE

Medicare Rebate PLUS gap fee if the Provider is charging more than the Medicare Rebate

FREE

However if further sessions are required person will need to use either Medicare funded services or ATAPS (requiring GP assessment and referral) or work with CHC who may have a waiting list for ongoing counseling
