FAMILY VIOLENCE MEN'S WORKER (EFT 0.5)

Mitchell Community Health Service (MCHS) is a vibrant multi-disciplinary organisation providing extensive health and social support services to communities within the Mitchell and Murrindindi Shires that adjoin northern metropolitan Melbourne.

 MCHS has an exciting opportunity for an experienced  Family Violence Men’s Worker. As a sole Family Violence Men’s Worker, this position works in accordance with the No To Violence framework to respond to fax backs, provide comprehensive assessment, care planning and group work with men who are abusive in their intimate relationships.  

 The position is responsible for coordinating and implementing the response to police fax backs, client assessment and group organisation, development and facilitation for men seeking assistance in relation to the use of family violence. The position will work closely with the other components of the Family Violence service that includes Family Violence Outreach and Children’s Counselling with all work based on a commitment to ensuring the continued safety of women and children in the community.

 The successful applicant will have a Graduate Certificate in Social Science (Men’s Behaviour Change). Applicants who have partially completed the course or intend to complete the course in the next intake are also encouraged to apply. In particular the successful applicant will have direct experience working with men who choose to use violence in their intimate relationships and experience in working with clients with co-presenting issues in particular in drug and alcohol and mental health.  A sound knowledge of the issues that underpin family violence along with experience in group facilitation are also required.

Salary: $53,000 per annum pro rata plus 9% Superannuation along with generous salary packaging benefits.
