The Mitchell Shire International Day Women's Awards was a great night for women, their supporters and the Mitchell community
MCHS has associations with 3 exceptional nominees.
Bernie Kenyon was a most deserving nominee for the Most Outstanding Young Woman Award . While she did not receive the highest Award, she was in the company of other very exceptional young women, with Sarah Watters receiving the Award. I am sharing Bernie’s “thank you” to Brian Howley & myself (as her nominees) as it demonstrates her wonderful enthusiasm about last night, and her remarkable passion and zeal for working with young people who have experienced great hardship to help them get over incredible hurdles in everyday living.
Anne Thompson , (Board President of MCHS) was awarded the Most Outstanding Business & Professional Woman Award - recognising her incredible involvement in so many community support enterprises, including being a key driver in the establishment of U3A in Seymour , and her role with U3A was also mentioned. Anne was not aware that she had been nominated for this Award and was both astounded and humbled!
Jenna Carroll received not only the Most Outstanding Woman – Events, Arts & Culture , with Dream Theatre being a key achievement. Jenna received the highest accolade of also being awarded Mitchell Shire Woman of the Year. I understand MCHS staff member Lisa Constantin was one of Jenna’s nominee’s, and had an integral role in her time as Rural Access Worker at MCHS supporting establishment of Dream Theatre with Jenna and Jenna taking on the incredible work of supporting young people with disabilities and mental health issues to develop through drama, and to support their inclusion within the community. Jenna also has many other exceptional achievements.
Mitchell CHS CEO, Mrs Anne Jungwirth also had the pleasure of presenting the MCHS sponsored Award to the Most Outstanding Woman – Community Support , awarded to Norma Rankin for exceptional community support within the Beveridge community since she moved there in 1965. There was also an outstanding field on nominees for this Award.
This evening was a display of just how well many of the MCHS staff and Board representatives are involved in community strengthening in our community.
