What the Group Does

Diabetes Education This four-week program is run by the Mitchell CHS Diabetes Educator (Community Health Nurse) and Dietician with input from our Physiotherapist and Social Worker. The program is designed to offer extensive education to those with diabetes or pre-diabetes.
Topics covered include the health effects and complications of diabetes, issues surrounding blood glucose monitoring, the effects of physical activity as well extensive dietary advice. Clients are encouraged to set goals for personal health management throughout the four weeks to aid them in identifying and acting upon goals in a manageable way. The course also addresses depression (a common occurrence in diabetes) and stress, providing innovative ideas for relaxation and wellness |
