Ready Set Go Group

When and Where

A strength training program to be undertaken twice a week for eight weeks at MCHS Broadford. Please visit our Events and Programs page for details on the current course.

What the Group Does

Some of the effects of ageing include increased body weight, reduced muscle mass, strength and endurance, reduced bone mineral density and reduced physical function. The incidence of osteoporosis and type 2 diabetes also increases with age.
Lifting weights twice a week can help to regain muscle mass and strength no matter what a person's age. It will also improve balance, walking and coordination which may help to reduce falls.
Strength training is an effective means of preserving bone density and when combined with a restricted diet is an effective management strategy for type 2 diabetes.
